i have been wearing braces for 1yr now, and paid 70% of total payment. but i have to transfer to new orthodontist due to change in workplace.
is there a rule or a general practice on payment schemes for uncompleted ortho treatment?

hi sam82,
Question is how far have your treatment gotten already?
First inform your treating dentist that you will be transferring to a new orthodontist.
Regarding payment schemes on unfinished/uncompleted orthodontic treatment, there are no exact rules that guide it but ethical standards compel us to provide necessary consent or transfer of treatment consent for proper endorsedment to the next treating dentist. The payment will all depend on the status of the case of the treatment to be done and the call of judgment of the next treating dentist.
We hope this helped. Have a nice day!

well, the problem why i had braces in the first place (misaligned upper teeth) was already solved (in fact it solved very quickly, 1st month only), but at least two problems developed: TMJ and open bite (the upper arch is now wider and longer than the lower). These developed during the 6th month.
my dentist is still addressing these two problems. in my honest opinion, i think my condition now is as it was during the 6th month.
so...i don't really feel right in paying the full treatment. what do you think?
